How gender affects the definition of our existence? What does being a man or a woman mean today? Body VS Soul, Speech VS Thought; through these two dipoles, the show, conceived and directed by Tatou Dede, intends to investigate and demarcate, if possible, the question of gender identity today.
EN(SE RES)SEMBLE is a project on gender exploration, extending to a provoking, multi-dimensional, multi-media dance theater performance. Through research and development, artistic director, Tatou, explores the current version of gender identification, its purpose and its existence. The title of the project is a game of words in French: “en se ressemble” that sounds like “on se ressemble” (we look alike) and “ensemble” (together). The performance is based on the exploration of the dynamics of social sexes.
Technology plays a part in this project through the use of interactive technologies, integrated sensors, sound applications, new, experimental, scene surfaces and video mapping application. In this way, technology on stage provides a means of communication between the digital methods and the body. Sensors in dancing costumes give an “extra” space to the body as a technological mean. In our society today, technology plays a big role in our everyday life. For this project, but also for its creators, it is necessary to explore and research in art through technology. The evolution and application of kinesiological research, mainly through interactive technologies, is a path that concerns the creators and leads to the future.
